Supported File Formats

The current release of PolyTrans provides a succinct set of precise and quality converters for the most popular industry standard 3d model formats. Click on the converter name to see a detailed description of its capabilities. Example renderings of data converted with each module is also provided, either rendered with the target rendering system or with the NuGraf Rendering System software.

Import File Converters

Please note that the following import converters are complete implementations of their respective file formats. Whereas most 3d import converters will only read in a subset of a file's data contents the PolyTrans import converters will read in every element of a file and convert them to equivalent PolyTrans database entries. In addition, all converters have been written to import very large data files quickly and using the least memory possible - this latter point is often overlooked when choosing a product for 3d file format data translation (for example, PolyTrans has no problem importing 20Mb DXF files in under one minute or large 32Mb-64Mb USGS DEM datasets for ultimate export to other rendering programs such as NuGraf or 3D Studio).
